A strong university application essay is never a single-draft process. The difference between an essay that is good and one that is truly unforgettable — the kind that sticks in an admissions reader's mind — almost always lies in the revision.

What we evaluate
Every piece of feedback addresses four core areas — the fields that make the difference between an acceptable and an extraordinary essay.
Does the essay tell a clear, coherent story? Is there a central thread running through the piece? Strong essays have a clear arc — an opening that hooks the reader, a middle that develops with specificity, and an ending that lands with genuine insight.
Does this essay sound like the student who wrote it? We immediately recognize when an essay has been polished beyond the student's natural voice — and when it truly sounds like the person. Your essay must sound like you.
Are there concrete, vivid details that put the reader in the moment? The best essays are built from specifics. "I learned the importance of perseverance" tells an admissions officer nothing. A specific moment showing perseverance in action says everything.
Does the essay start well? Does it earn its ending? Does every paragraph accomplish something the essay actually needs? We evaluate structure based on whether every part of the essay contributes to the whole — and cut what doesn't.
